Privacy Policy

Short version: your files stay on your device, and we collect as little as possible.

Last updated:

This policy describes Paperbrass as it is today: free tools that work in your browser, with no accounts, no file uploads, no ads and no payments. We will update it before we launch accounts, AI tools, advertising or payments, and change the date above when we do.

Who we are

Paperbrass (paperbrass.com) provides free online tools for PDFs, scanning, signatures and invoices. In this policy “Paperbrass”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of this website. For any privacy question or request, email support@paperbrass.com.

Your files never leave your device

Every tool on Paperbrass today runs inside your web browser. When you add a PDF or an image, it is read and processed by your own device. Your files are not uploaded to our servers or to anyone else, and we cannot see them. When you close or reload the page, the files and results are gone unless you downloaded them.

To do this work in your browser, the tools download program code and data from our website (for example the PDF engine, the text-recognition engine and its English language file, and fonts). These are downloads to your device; nothing about your files is sent back.

What we collect

Information your browser sends when you visit

Like every website, our hosting provider receives technical information needed to deliver pages and keep the site secure — such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to serve the site and to detect abuse, and is kept only as long as needed for those purposes.

Anonymous usage statistics

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count page views and see which tools are used, which country visits come from, and the type of device and browser. These statistics are aggregated: they don’t use cookies and don’t identify you personally.

Your email address, only if you give it to us

  • If you email us or use the contact form (when available), we receive your email address and your message so we can reply.
  • If you use a “Notify me” form (when available), we receive your email address and which feature you’re interested in, so we can send you one email when it launches.

We use these addresses only for those purposes. We don’t send marketing, and we never sell or rent your information.

What we don’t do

  • No accounts or sign-up — we don’t ask for your name or any profile information.
  • No tracking or advertising cookies, and no advertising on the site.
  • No payments are taken on the site.
  • We don’t sell or share your personal information for advertising.

Data stored on your own device

Some tools remember things for you in your browser’s own storage (local storage), on your device only. We can’t see it. This includes:

  • your light/dark theme choice;
  • signatures you choose to save in the Signature maker (for reuse in Fill & sign);
  • your business details, the current invoice draft and your invoice number counter in the Invoice generator;
  • the text-recognition language file, kept by your browser so it doesn’t need to download again.

You can delete these at any time with the buttons in the tools (for example “Clear saved details” or the delete button next to a saved signature), or by clearing your browser’s site data for paperbrass.com. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to run the site:

  • Website hosting and analytics — Vercel, which serves the website and provides the cookieless analytics described above.
  • Email — our email provider handles messages you send to support@paperbrass.com. If contact or “Notify me” forms are enabled, they are delivered to us through Resend, an email delivery service.

These providers process data on our behalf and may store or process it in the United States or other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)

  • Delivering and securing the site and aggregated statistics: our legitimate interest in running a reliable, safe website.
  • Replying to your messages: your request, and our legitimate interest in answering it.
  • “Notify me” emails: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us.

How long we keep information

  • Messages you send us: as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted when no longer needed.
  • “Notify me” addresses: until we have sent the launch email or you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first.
  • Technical and statistical data: only for as long as our providers retain it for the purposes above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, and the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to receive a copy of it. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law. To make a request, email support@paperbrass.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Paperbrass is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when what we do changes — and always before launching accounts, AI tools, advertising or payments. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version.
